Các bước chuyển đổi từ câu chủ động sang câu bị đông

Bước 1: Xác định tân ngữ trong câu chủ động, chuyển thành chủ ngữ câu bị động.
Bước 2: Xác định thì (tense) trong câu chủ động rồi chuyển động từ về thể bị động như hướng dẫn ở trên.
Bước 3: Chuyển đổi chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động thành tân ngữ thêm “by” phía trước. Những chủ ngữ không xác định chúng ta có thể bỏ qua như: by them, by people….
Example
1. My father waters this flower every morning.
➤This flower is watered (by my father) every morning.
2. John invited Fiona to his birthday party last night.
➤ Fiona was invented to John`s birthday party last night.
3. Her mother is preparing the dinner in the kitchen.
➤ The dinner is being prepared (by her mother) in the kitchen.
EXERCISES: Change the following sentences into the pasive voice
1. We should clean our teeth twice a day.
2. Our teachers have explained the English grammar.
3. Tom will visit his parents next month.
4. The manager didn’t phone the secretary this morning.
5. Did Mary buy this beautiful dress?
6. I won’t hang these old pictures in the living room.
The German didn’t build this factory during the Second World War.
8. The Greens are going to paint this house and these cars for Christmas Day.
9. Ann had fed the cats before she went to the cinema.
10. The students have discussed the pollution problems since last week.
11. Have the thieves stolen the most valuable painting in the national museum?
12. Some people will interview the new president on TV.

Past perfect tense (Thì quá khứ hoàn thành)
Thì quá khứ hoàn thành diễn tả:
Một hành động xảy ra trước 1 thời điểm được xác định trong quá khứ.
Example:People had managed to leave the flooded villages by 11 o’clock last night.
Một hành động xảy ra trước 1 hành động khác trong quá khứ.
Example: People had already left the flooded villages when rescue workers arrived.
Dấu hiệu nhận biết
- Từ nhận biết: until then, by the time, prior to that time, before, after, for, as soon as, by, …
- Trong câu thường có các từ: before, after, when by, by the time, by the end of + time in the past …
